Parrid "The Grey"
Non-Player Character
Parrid is an illusionist of some power. In his late 40's, he has been retired for a number of years. During his heyday, he was a member of a number of adventuring groups, none of which ever became famous (or infamous, as the case may be).
As an illusionist, Parid thought that he could use his magic to perform for people. He assumed that his considerable talent in the arcane arts would be enough to please large crowds. The hard reality was that his skill could not make-up for his dower demeanor (hence the nick-name Parid "the Grey"), and his performances failed to draw large crowds. He even created a spell called Parrid's Luck, but it was no help.
Eventually he met up with an old adventuring companion, Alfonse DuBergiér, a Priest of Riff Kalma (God of Merchants). Alfonse, now ready to retire himself, suggested that the two of them combine their talents (and cash) and start an apothecary/magic shop.
His latest venture has been a little more succesful. With the help of an alchemist and his former adventuring partner, Alfonse, Parid has opened an alchemy shop called the Rose Petal and Briarthorn. The shop is on the south end of the Market Distrcit, near to both the South Dock and Mercantile Dock Districts.
Parrid is an unassuming, slight man with long, dull brown hair that he pulls back into a ponytail. His dark brown eyes still have a glint that betrays his adventurous history. He is the front man of the Rose Petal and Briarthorn (one would question the wisdom of this decision given his person skills), while his partner takes care of most of the administrative side. He speaks in a dull monotone, and he alomost always wears a neutral, bland expression. It is rare to see him smile, and even more rare to see him frown.
Lately, the major source of income for the Rose Petal and Briarthorn is from casting identify spells for the great number of adventuring types that frequent the City of Rastgoth. With the combined skills of Parrid and his partner, the shop always has a good selection of potions. He would rather trade magic for magic than to merely buy or sell.
