Kitten's Den
Kitten's Den is a brothel in the South Dock District of Rastgoth. Operated by Miss Kitten Demure, or Miss Kitty to close friends, this establishment is situated behind the Gutted Fish, tucked back away from Market Street in the middle of a wide alley. The one story stone building is nestled amidst several warehouses, its main entrance is hidden behind a 8' tall stone wall.
The Madam, Miss Kitty, is the former mistress of Grim Mogley, a powerful crime figure in the Rastgoth Underworld (see Underworld Figures). Grim "discarded" her when her youth faded (he prefers his mistresses young) and left her alone to run this brothel. Although just 30 years of age, the years were not kind ones, and her life style has left its mark on Kitten.

Main Level
The brothel building has tow entrances. The front entrance is at the end of a stone courtyard that is common to several other buildings. The courtyard is enclosed by the walls of the buildings, and an 8'-tall stone wall. A plain wooden gate gives access to the the courtyard. The front porch of the Den is usually opened by a porter. The head porter, Gullag, is a beefy man in his fifties, covered with tattoos. Gullag's assistant, Meeg, is a mute, who stands over six-and-a-half feet tall.
The front entrance opens into a vestibule. Opposite are large doors that open into the main parlor. The lack of windows and the tasteless, dark furnishings make this an uneasy room, but the large fire place adds some warmth on winter days. Clients are usually met here, and Miss Kitty insists on having entertainment of some sort during normal hours of operation. She hires minstrels, poets and jugglers. None of the customers pay much attention.
The large kitchen is the busiest place in the building, and the most hospitable. It is large, bright and warm, and usually full of good smells. Often the under boss of the Mogley family, Kosgold, or his son Riswald use the kitchen to meet and conduct family business. There is a permanent cook and several scullery maids that work at the Den. Each are indentured to Grim Mogely.
Most of the regulars use the rear entrance, many coming in off the docks or from other establishments in the District. Despite the obvious, the other attraction at the Kitten's Den is gambling. The Rear Salon is usually in use by the South Dock District's more powerful criminals. The game, usually a card game called Drakes and Dragons, is high-stakes, but generally friendly. It is considered neutral ground by the usually contentious factions that run the underworld of Rastgoth. The dealer, Kit "the Cat" Grady, is a protégé of Potenzia DuBarone, who runs the book for the Arena and other games of chance at the Gutted Fish.

Personalities
Miss Kitten Demure is slightly unbalanced, in a mostly harmless way. Still convinced that she has the overpowering beauty that attracted Grim Mogley 13 years ago, Kitten is vain, proud, and has let go of the last shred of dignity she had. Her lifestyle has robbed her of her looks, and although she is just thirty, she appears much older. She is prone to fits of temper and jealousy when not given enough attention. However, she treats the girls well, and knows how to make men feel welcome. Kitten hands over a good portion of the establishment's proceeds to Kosgold Mogley to make sure that she is allowed to remain in business. She is not very shrewd with money, a subject that she mostly leaves to Emelda.
Miss Kitty's right-hand is a woman named Emelda. She is a clever thief, and a skilled sneak who sells information to whomever will pay the most. While loyal to the Mogely family, she has been known to deal with Hester, or even Zira if given the opportunity.
Kit Grady is allowed to come and go as he pleases, and like his mentor, Potenzia did before him, he often rooms at the Den, sleeping in the parlor or the salon when not off studying odds or sizing up potential gambling patsies. Like Potenzia, Kit has loyalties to Zira the Tailor, but is more of a free lance, fend-for-himself type. Besides his skill with cards and dice, Kit is a quick pickpocket and information gatherer.
