The West Slums
The West Slums of Rastgoth is one of the worst areas of the city. It is the area on either side of the city walls along the Rast river, near the Market Street Gate. At the river bank, the slums are 20 feet or so above the river and sea level. A retaining wall along side of the river keeps the ground level, and creates a beach at water's edge. The beach is used as a "Shanty town," an area of temporary buildings, tents, and peddlers carts. It is a district for transients, foreigners, and impoverished citizens of Rastgoth.
The Market Street Gate is one of the busiest portals of the city, just to the east, inside the walls is the Fisherman's Wharf District, and south and east beyond that, the South Dock District. The Wharf is a destination for peddlers and people seeking to purchase the harvest of the river or the sea, and the South Docks have warehouses devoted to the storage of livestock and other commodities.
Areas of Interest
Several of the areas are described in detail in linked documents.
1. Barn And Bait Shop
Two non-descript buildings in the district, a barn and bait and supply shop are owned by the same owner, Potenzia DuBarone. One is a small livery stable and warehouse that is never very full, but doesn't take many horses. The other sells a small amount of bait and equipment to the fishermen of Rastgoth. But there is more than meets the eye underneath the streets. [ details » ]
